The Armauer Hansen Commemorative Rooms was opened in 1962 in one of the former hospital rooms and parts of the corridors in the Pleiestiftelsen hospital that were fitted out as a laboratory and library in 1895. In addition to the objects that were already in the laboratory and library – which had been used by several doctors doing research over the years – a number of artefacts were collected  and presented in two display cases: Hansen’s most important scholarly works, awards and personal items, as well as documents and correspondence relating to the Second International Conference on Leprosy in Bergen in 1909.

The objects in the Commemorative Rooms are owned by The Bergen Collections on the History of Medicine.
